Cody was born and raised in Southeastern Wisconsin. Being from the area, Cody understands and shares the values of Wisconsin families. Growing up on the same farmland that five generations worked, Cody learned at an early age that hard work and persistence were the keys to the American dream. Cody comes from a long line of proud Wisconsin farmers with strong ties to area FFA and 4H organizations.
After graduating from East Troy High School, he pursued a Business degree at UW-Whitewater. In addition to working to put himself through college, Cody was actively involved with the University administration, local businesses, and city government. Cody worked with the downtown business promotions committee in addition to helping create the Neighborhood Enhancement Team which worked to foster relationships between the University and community members.
After College, Cody worked in the private sector in various sales positions. In addition to holding a full-time job, Cody volunteered his time with the District Attorney’s Office and State Supreme Court on his off days. Realizing his passion for public service and the law, Cody decided to continue his education at Marquette University Law School. During law school, Cody worked in various public interest capacities including the Chambers of Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman, the Public Defender’s Office, and Walworth County District Attorney’s Office where he was brought on as an Assistant District Attorney following graduation.
After his election in 2014 Cody was inaugurated in January 2015 and is serving as the Vice-Chairman of the Judiciary Committee in addition to serving as a member of the Campaigns & Elections Committee, Constitution & Ethics Committee, Criminal Justice & Public Safety Committee, Education Committee, and Interstate Affairs Committee during the 2015-2017 session. Cody also authored several bills during the current legislative session including allowing library boards additional flexibilities, streamlining the absentee ballot request process, creating a new medical college, and curbing gang activity in Wisconsin.
Cody is a tested conservative leader. Joining the Republican Party at 18, he has been actively involved ever since. In addition to serving as the Treasurer, and later, Chairman of the Whitewater College Republicans during the 2008 election cycle Cody has served as the Secretary, Vice Chair, and Chairman of the Republican Party of Walworth County after college. It is this drive for public service that propels Cody in his campaign for re-election to the 33rd Assembly District.Follow My Updates
